(Construction) - During the European business trip, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and the National Assembly's Economic Committee visited Austria.
To mark the 79th Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2024), the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria. They were warmly welcomed by Nguyen Duc Linh, a representative of the embassy, along with other staff members.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi explained that the visit aimed to exchange insights on urban planning, construction, and architecture. This effort seeks to strengthen the nearly 52-year relationship between Vietnam and Austria.
Nguyen Duc Linh expressed his pleasure at hosting the delegation from the Ministry of Construction and the National Assembly’s Economic Committee on Vietnam’s National Day. He appreciated the delegation's warm gestures towards the embassy staff. He also mentioned that the Vietnamese community in Austria, numbering about 6,000 people, has grown since its formation after 1975, with significant development in the 1990s. Various associations, including the Vietnam Women’s Association, Student Association, Hai Phong Hometown Association, Buddhist Cultural and Social Association, Catholic Association of Vienna, Catholic Association of Linz, and Huong Viet Association, are actively engaged in social activities and maintain strong ties with their homeland.
On the afternoon of September 2nd, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and his delegation met with Mr. Norbert Totschnig, the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Regional Planning, and Water Management of Austria. They exchanged updates on their respective countries situations and discussed ways to enhance and deepen the longstanding friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Austria.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that the two ministries continue to share information and management practices and foster practical, effective collaboration between construction businesses in both countries.

As part of the business trip, on September 3, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and his delegation had a meeting with Mr. Ernst Woller, President of the Vienna State Parliament. The meeting also focused on sharing experiences in urban planning, architecture, and leveraging Vienna’s strengths in urban management, environmental protection, and heritage conservation.
Both sides agreed to connect specialized units from the Ministry of Construction and Vietnamese localities to exchange experiences and implement specific cooperative projects. They concluded with optimism that new opportunities will emerge to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
